![]() ![]() The vehicle is equiped with the factory CD Changer, the Harmon Kardon premium sound system, and an aftermarket Rosen rear entertainment system. I am trying to install the Ipod Integration Kit part number 6-7-82-4558 that I purchased from my local dealer into my '07 GL450 but am having some issues. When I get around to installing my trailer brake controller where I will need to route wires from the rear SAM up to the front i may revisit the ipod location. If i decide to move it the Ipod kit actually has a long cable that would allow me to route it to the center armrest without needing the extension cable. I don't imagine I need access to it other than to load more songs on it every now and again. Now that it is working I'll just try it out for a while with the Ipod in the glovebox. As promised it was plug and play and I still have access to all the same inputs as before. This way you can have access to the iPod from the driver's seat.I picked it up at MB of Lynnwood. I bought one of those and had my tech reroute the wire to the center armrest (where the bluetooth module is) instead of routing the wire to the glove compartment. Since you've got the car apart, you may consider buying this: I think some wires had to be moved around to get those to work straight forward though. I didn't lose the input for the rear headphone jacks either. What dealer did you buy this from? I had this installed at MB Seattle and my technician there did a great job putting it together. This cable is essentially a splitter because there aren't enough inputs at the back of the Command for all of these features (CD changer, RSE, iPod)- so the cable takes an input from the RSE and the iPod and makes it fit into one connection. Since your car has an aftermarket system, I'm not sure how that was plugged into your Command- but it might be similar. ![]() You then plug the iPod harness into where the Rear Seat Entertainment was originally plugged in. The instructions for mine were that you remove the Rear Seat Entertainment plug going into the Command and plug that into the iPod harness. The dealer put mine in, but from the research I did it should be plug and play- no engineering mode required. ![]() Black 1 and Silver 7 go together to ground, Red and White go to Right and Left channels. So I went back to my records and I do have the same part number as you: 6-7-82-4558. I chopped the Black 1, White 2, Red 6, Silver 7 wires - I left a few inches on the connector end to resplice. ONLY CUT THE 4 WIRES YOU NEED! The rest have to stay connected to the CD changer, providing some sort of signal that it's ready. Looking at the (disconnected) connector from the end, the wires go: I used an extra 3-pin stereo cable as the attachment point for now, will probably wire more permanently later. YOUR WIRES MAY VARY! (but this worked for me and matches what's in the article) I don't care about CDs anymore, but it's nice to be able to wire it back together before I sell it - if I really wanted a 4x4 (or 2x2 with grounds shorted) switch, it would be easy enough to wire in as described above. Wish it had been a little easier to find this info, I know I've seen this page a couple of times but never when I was ready to work on it. ![]() I moved the seat forward, loosened the wire, tested, chopped, spliced, and tested again, and it sounds GREAT. I've got an 02 Discovery with the under-passenger-seat Alpine XQE-100240 6-disc CD changer. Much thanks to lordkenyon - I got it working. ![]()
